Let’s admit it, long flights are boring. You have too little space for you yourself and it is hard to move around. And if you have one of those screaming kids, there is no end to the nightmare. But with a little bit of planning and some ingenuity, passing time on a flight can be fun too. Here are some of the ways to keep yourself busy on an aeroplane.

  1. Read a book.

We all have a big ‘to read’ lists. The list keeps growing, but we never find an undistracted moment to read. Long flights can be a great place to read books. There is silence around, no Internet – at least on most flights and you can carry a whole library on a Kindle. Make the best use of this chance to finish a book or two.

  1. Learn a new language.

Apps like Babbel and Duolingo allow you to download a lot of lessons and use at your leisure. Use this time to learn a new language or brush up an old one. It is a great workout for your brain, and time will fly when you are so engaged in an activity. If you find it too boring, look up all the curse words and figure out how to use them.

  1. Sleep

All of us crave for more sleep, and flights are a great place to catch up. If you need to pop a pill or get an eye mask and a neck pillow, plan for it ahead of time. Sleep through as much as you can and use the rest of the time to catch up on your favourite shows. Some frequent fliers intentionally skip watching their favourite shows when on land and schedule all binge-watching to the sky time.

These simple activities can help you keep boredom at bay when flying.
